Urban Schools Initiative

The Bay Area Urban Schools Initiative (BAUSI) is an initiative started in 2025 to start new high school Science Olympiad teams in underserved communities within the wider Bay Area. Below are several open access informational webinars about starting a Science Olympiad team at your school as well as educational webinars that walk through various Science Olympiad events. This is a collaboration with GGSO’s outreach department and other Science Olympiad alums and volunteers. Schools registered in BAUSI will be able to compete in our mini-USI tournament at GGSO free of charge. This tournament will occur at the same location and date as the general GGSO tournament, but will only include 10 events. We hope to provide an opportunity for new Science Olympiad teams to get a taste for Science Olympiad competitions without having to commit financial resources. If you are interested in starting a new team at your school, or volunteering as an organizer or teacher with the BAUSI, please email us at goldengatescioly@gmail.com.
